Hillary Clinton almost became America’s first female president in 2016, but of course she ended up losing the electoral vote. But no, she won’t be jealous if Kamala Harris wins the title in November.

Stopping by “The View” on Thursday morning to promote her new book, “Something Lost, Something Gained,” the former presidential hopeful reflected on her campaign against Donald Trump compared to Harris’.

“People didn’t know much about my opponent,” she recalls. “They had seen him on television as a businessman. They didn’t know about the six bankruptcies, they didn’t know about all the failures, about his character and all the rest.”

As Clinton and the moderators looked back, moderator Sunny Hostin admitted that she was curious to see how Clinton would feel if Harris won, since she herself was so close.

“You’re the woman who didn’t break through the (glass) ceiling, but man, you caused a lot of cracks,” Hostin said. “And so I wonder, as I read your book and you touch on it a little bit, how will you feel if she wins? Will there be a part of you that thinks, ‘Wow, I wish that was me.'”

“No. Not anymore,” Clinton answered firmly. “Not anymore!”

She pointed out that she had completed her book before President Joe Biden even resigned and endorsed Harris, but she deliberately went so far as to add an epilogue to the audiobook version of the memoir when that twist occurred.

Clinton admitted that while she had wondered how she would feel, when she and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, endorsed Harris shortly after Biden’s support, her excitement was more than anything else.

“I was excited, thrilled, I was literally thrilled. And that was mainly because I’ve known her and been involved with her since she was vice president. Her sister worked for me in 2016, so I just really like her personally,” she said. “But I also think she’s the right person for our country right now.”
