Here’s the Tigers-Guardians ALDS schedule; Tickets almost sold out

Next stop: Cleveland.

The Detroit Tigers defeated the Houston Astros 5-2 on Wednesday, winning the Wild Card Series in two games and advancing to the American League Division Series, where they will face their longtime rivals, the Guardians. The series begins Saturday at Progressive Field in Cleveland.

It is the first time the Tigers will play a division opponent in the playoffs. The Guardians (92-69) won the AL Central and had a first-round bye. The Tigers (86-76) finished second in the AL Central and won the third and final wild card.

The Guardians won the season series against the Tigers 7-6. The teams’ last game took place at the end of July before the Tigers traded four players, including their second-best pitcher Jack Flaherty, to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the deadline.

They haven’t played since the Tigers got hot in mid-August and bounced back after 10 games in the wild-card race to make the playoffs.

Here is the complete schedule for the best-of-five American League Division Series:

Game 1: Detroit at Cleveland, 1:08 Saturday (TBS)

Game 2: Detroit at Cleveland, 4:08 Monday (TBS)

Game 3: Cleveland at Detroit, TBD Wednesday, October 9th

Game 4: Cleveland at Detroit (if necessary), TBD Thursday, October 10

Game 5: Detroit at Cleveland (if required), TBD Saturday, October 12th

All games will be broadcast on TBS and 97.1 The Ticket.

If the series shifts to Detroit for Game 3, Comerica Park will host its first Tigers playoff game since the 2014 ALDS, when Detroit got just one home game because it was defeated by higher-seeded Baltimore.

Playoff tickets for ALDS Game 3 and a possible ALDS Game 4 went on sale this week, and inventory at tigers.com is already limited to general admission for $90.
