Tiffany Justice, co-founder of Moms for Liberty, was blunt: she believes a possible Harris-Walz administration would be a threat to American families.

In a new interview with Fox News Digital, Justice railed against the Democratic presidential candidates – particularly vice presidential candidate Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) – for policies she says harm American children and undermine their parents’ right to have a say in public education.

“Tim Walz is worse than weird. He is the most radical anti-parent candidate Kamala Harris could have chosen,” Justice told Fox News Digital last week during Moms For Liberty’s 2024 Joyful Warrior Summit.

The conservative group was co-founded in 2021 by former school board members Justice and Tina Descovich to mobilize activist parents to fight against school policies that they say harm children and their parents’ right to oversee their education.

From the beginning, Moms for Liberty fought against public school COVID-19 policies that members said were damaging children’s school lives. Since then, they have taken a stand against sexually explicit books in public school libraries and against pro-LGBTQ agendas that they say are being forced on many of the country’s schoolchildren without parental consent.

Justice warned that Walz’s policies as governor of Minnesota were in stark contrast to everything Moms for Liberty stands against and could be a harbinger of how bad Vice President Harris’ time in the White House will be for families.

“It’s really hard to pin down Kamala Harris politically because she doesn’t give interviews. But we can look at Tim Walz and the vice presidential candidate to really understand who she is,” Justice explained.

“Tim Walz is anti-parental. He believes that if you are not prepared to fulfill your child’s wish for a sex change, you should lose custody of your child. That is absolutely radical,” she said.

Walz signed a law in 2023 that makes Minnesota a “sanctuary state” for children seeking surgical procedures and hormone prescriptions. The law requires Minnesota courts not to follow other states’ prosecutions of people who come to Minnesota for treatments such as puberty blockers, hormone therapy or surgery.

Before the bill was passed, Walz had already issued an executive order in May 2023 to prevent the criminalization of transgender surgeries in the state.

Critics claim the law contains a provision that could allow parents to lose custody of their transgender children, as the co-founder of Moms for Liberty described it.

Bob Roby, a Minnesota attorney who has worked in juvenile and family court for 30 years, told Fox News Digital, “The most insidious aspect of this bill is the language that places children denied ‘gender-affirming care’ (defined as anything from therapy to hormone blockers to sex reassignment surgery) in the category of children in need of ‘protection or assistance’ in Minnesota, and allows courts to grant ’emergency custody’ of the child.”

Matthew Sharp, senior attorney for the Alliance Defending Freedom, argued in a column for The Hill that the law states: “If someone – a parent, a close relative or even an unrelated adult – seeks custody of a child ‘in order to obtain gender-affirming health care,’ then that person can take the child to Minnesota, where state courts now have exclusive jurisdiction to hear the case.”

However, the New York Times and other mainstream fact-checkers have refuted these claims. The Times stated that the groups “could not cite a case where this would have happened and instead pointed to hypothetical scenarios about a provision in the law.”

AFP News placed the claim among a “flood of attacks on Tim Walz fueled by misinformation about his support of the LGBTQ community.” The newspaper added that critics “falsely accuse Walz of allowing the state to take away custody when transgender children are prevented by their parents from receiving gender-affirming care.”

The Harris campaign told Fox News Digital that Justice’s claim had been “disproved,” citing the New York Times article.

Justice has turned the “weird” nickname liberals have often used against Republican candidates for the 2024 election on its head.

“Cutting off healthy body parts from children is more than just strange. It’s extreme,” she said.

“We are very concerned that children in the state of Minnesota and in California, where Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are from, can be given puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones without parental consent or knowledge,” she added.

In Harris’ home state, Governor Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) signed a new law prohibiting school districts from notifying parents if their child uses different pronouns or identifies as a different gender than that indicated on their school report card.”

When asked why former President Trump – who spoke at the summit – still has the support of Moms for Liberty, Justice said his family’s extensive involvement in his businesses and in the White House shows that he cares about the country’s families.

“President Trump is a father, a husband and a grandfather. And America has watched him involve his children in politics and business over the years,” she concluded.
