He was called selfish for prioritizing saving for college instead of contributing financially to his brother’s wedding – Chip Chick

This 18-year-old young man will soon be going to college, but he has a 28-year-old brother named Mike who will be getting married in a few months.

His and Mike’s family bond was always very close – they supported each other when things got difficult.

When Mike and his future sister-in-law ran into financial problems related to their wedding, they turned to him for help.

It all started a few weeks ago when Mike asked if he would be willing to contribute financially to the event. This way, Mike and his fiancée would have some help in covering some expenses.

“But Mike knows that I saved the money I earned from my part-time job for college and some personal goals,” he explained.

He tried to explain this to his brother, claiming that he simply could not help with the wedding costs, as he was already trying to save money for his education and other necessary things.

At first he thought his brother was quite understanding, but since he refused the request, Mike – as well as some other family members – have been quite cold and distant towards him.

“They think it’s selfish of me not to help, especially since I still live at home and don’t have big expenses,” he explained.

He, on the other hand, believes he has always tried to be there for his family. Now he just feels he needs to put his own future first – especially with college just around the corner.
