HBO releases teaser trailer for second season of “The Last of Us.”

The first special teaser trailer for The Last of Us The second season was released by HBO along with three posters (below).

The new footage, set to the haunting sounds of Pearl Jam’s “Future Days,” continues the story of apocalypse survivors Joel (Pedro Pascal), Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Joel’s brother Tommy (Gabriel Luna). New cast members are also introduced, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac. Catherine O’Hara also guest stars this season.

The official description: “After five years of peace following the events of season one, Joel and Ellie’s shared past catches up with them, thrusting them into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind. ”

The 2023 debut season of The Last of Us was HBO’s most-watched first season series of all time. The new season will be released sometime next year. The season was nominated for eight Emmys, including for the performances of Pascal and Ramsey and for best drama series.

The release date coincides with The Last of Us Day, September 26th, the day the Cordyceps virus outbreak occurred in the original The Last of Us Naughty Dog video game.

The Last of Us The script and executive producers are Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. The series is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television and is also executive produced by Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan and Evan Wells.
