Vice President Kamala Harris is being accused of copying former President Donald Trump after she promised during a campaign rally on Saturday to eliminate the tax on tips, an issue Trump championed during his own campaign.

Harris made the promise at a campaign rally in Las Vegas on Saturday, and Trump and his allies immediately seized on the promise, accusing the Democratic candidate of being a copycat and stealing the former president’s idea.

“Now is a good time to remind everyone that #CopyCatKamala’s administration implemented a new enforcement program JUST LAST YEAR to collect more taxes on tips! She could stop it now… but she won’t because she’s a dishonest con artist!” Trump campaign political director James Blair posted on X.

Trump accused Harris of copying his idea for “political purposes” in a post on his website Truth Social.

“Kamala Harris, whose ‘honeymoon’ is coming to an end and who is slowly plummeting in the polls, simply copied my NO TAXES ON TIPS policy. The difference is she won’t do it, she just wants to for political reasons! That was TRUMP’s idea – she has no ideas, she can only steal from me. Remember, Kamala proposed the BIGGEST TAX HIKE IN HISTORY – it won’t happen. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!” Trump posted on Truth Social.

At the campaign rally, Harris said it was her “promise to everyone in attendance: If I am president, we will continue our fight for America’s working families. That includes raising the minimum wage and eliminating the tax on tips for service and restaurant workers.”

Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance (R-OH), posted on X: “If she’s going to run the government, why isn’t she running it now?”
