Groom murders bride hours after wedding in Karnataka village

KGF: Marital bliss lasted only a few hours for this couple. Naveen (27), a resident of Santuru village in Kuppam in AP, married Likhita Sri (20), a resident of Bainepalli in KGF on Wednesday morning.

However, the joy of marriage ended when a fight broke out between the newlyweds soon after the wedding. The fight turned ugly when Naveen, in a fit of rage, allegedly stabbed and killed his wife. Later, he attempted to commit suicide using the same weapon. His condition is critical.

KGF SP KM Shantharaju said the accused was a textile merchant, adding that preliminary investigation revealed that it was a love marriage solemnised at the house of Monika, Naveen’s sister.

According to SP, after the wedding, the couple visited Naveen’s relative’s house where an argument broke out. Naveen attacked Likhita and allegedly stabbed her. She fell on the ground bleeding. When Naveen saw Likhita’s lifeless body, he tried to commit suicide using the same weapon. Meanwhile, Pavithra, the relative, called for help and lured villagers to the spot.

Andersonpet police have registered a case and started investigation.

The exact reason for the murder is being investigated, Shantharaju said.
