Greg Gutfeld submits murder plan based on sexist joke

Greg Gutfeld responded to reports that a Secret Service agent left her post to breastfeed at Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Asheville, North Carolina, on Wednesday. On his Fox News show “Gutfeld,” he delivered a strikingly sexist argument, criticizing the agent and making a witty comment about his own assassination plans: “If I wanted to be an assassin, all I would have to do is impregnate all the female agents.”

Gutfeld seemed to be suggesting that this would result in numerous breastfeeding women working at campaign rallies, and all of these women would then simultaneously leave their posts to nurse their babies, creating an excellent opportunity to assassinate a politician.

His comment was met with an equally sexist response from co-host and former professional wrestler Tyrus, who warned: “Greg, when you make the decision to impregnate all the women, you realize you have to raise the kids. So just trust me. Think about it.” Tyrus is a father of five children.

Conservative journalist Susan Crabtree first reported the story on Thursday via X. Crabtree wrote that the agent in question was found by an on-site agent five minutes before Trump arrived at the campaign rally. “The on-site agent walked the runway again and found the agent breastfeeding her child in a room reserved for important Secret Service official business, a potential presidential emergency.”

“An on-duty agent is not permitted to bring a child on a protective assignment. The woman was not at the Atlanta field office,” Crabtree added. “The agent was in the room with two other family members. The agent and her family members bypassed the Uniformed Division checkpoint and were escorted into the room by an untethered event staff member to breastfeed, the sources said. Untethered means they did not receive permission from the Secret Service to be there.”

US Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi issued the following statement to TheWrap: “All US Secret Service employees are held to the highest standards. While the incident in North Carolina was non-impactful, the details of this incident are under investigation. Because this is a personnel matter, we are unable to provide further comment.”

It’s not clear what Secret Service policy is for nursing mothers, but federal law “requires employers to provide nursing mothers with ‘reasonable break times’ in private areas (other than bathrooms) that are protected from view and disturbance by co-workers and the public to enable them to express breast milk during work hours.”

Kat Timpf from the show also weighed in. “I mean, again, again, this is unimaginable for any job,” she claimed. “Imagine again a cashier leaving her post at Chipotle to breastfeed her baby. Would heads roll at that Chipotle? Yes.”

“I want whoever is responsible for this to take the Chipotle test from me. Yes. When you investigate and audit the conduct of our Secret Service agents, say, ‘Would you give a one-star review on Yelp if you saw this at your local Chipotle?’ If the answer is yes, they get fired,” she concluded.

In 2020, a class action lawsuit was filed against the managers of a Chipotle in Arizona after they prohibited an employee from breastfeeding during her shifts. The plaintiff claimed that this refusal resulted in her “breasts beginning to visibly leak through her shirt and she had to continue serving customers. When the plaintiff’s managers saw her leaking, they informed her that she would be allowed to take a break in fifteen minutes.”

“During this time, plaintiff alleged she was still required to interact with customers in a soaked shirt,” the lawsuit continued. The case was eventually dismissed after a settlement was reached. Also in 2020, Chipotle announced plans to better support new parents – these plans included paid leave and paying breastfeeding mothers to use breastfeeding delivery services during their travels.

To counter Timpf’s argument, Gutfeld interjected: “If you were an air traffic controller, for example, you couldn’t just walk away to breastfeed your child. How can that be less important?”

The Air Line Pilots Association, International, has pointed out that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) “has not established any regulations regarding pilots who express milk during flight.” Presumably, under federal regulations, air traffic controllers who are also nursing mothers are allowed the necessary time and space to nurse and/or express breast milk.

Gutfeld also suspects that the incident may have been due to the fact that management did not dare to say “no” to the breastfeeding mother because “it might land him in the human resources department because they discriminated against a breastfeeding woman.”

This prompted co-host Dagen McDowell to cry: “They need a barren bitch like me to come storming in and ask, ‘Why is Barb having her baby on the construction site?’ But this is the secret service. That’s the nature of the government that everyone probably doesn’t dare ask, ‘Why is the baby here? Why is she breastfeeding?’ And since it’s the government, do we even know it was a breastfeeding woman?”

Breastfeeding is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Many mothers who work outside the home choose to continue breastfeeding after their maternity leave ends. Many women breastfeed their children for the first year of life (and beyond). The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that mothers breastfeed exclusively for the first six months of their baby’s life – much longer than the typical 8 to 12 weeks of maternity leave many women receive from their employers.

There are a variety of reasons why a mother may need to breastfeed or nurse directly before, during and after her work shift rather than pumping milk. Medical conditions and a baby’s individual temperament can also make bottle feeding difficult.
