Grants are available for residents near the Lineage Logistics fire site

Help is available for those who live near the Lineage Logistics building that was destroyed by fire in Finley earlier this year. The fire in the warehouse, which stored frozen food, started on April 21. It burned for two months, producing smoke that irritated many residents.

The Benton Franklin Health Department says residents living within about a mile of the former facility who incurred costs to relocate their families or animals due to the health effects of smoke during the fire are eligible.

Claimants must provide supporting documentation, such as receipts, to support their claim. If you believe you are eligible, contact BFHD Environmental Programs at (509) 460-4205 and ask about reimbursement costs related to the Lineage Logistics Fire.

The health department also asks that mailed fire response questionnaires be returned by Sept. 6. You can also complete the survey online or by calling the number above (509) 460-4205.

In an email, the Benton Franklin Health Department said of the survey: “The data collected will have a direct impact on how we respond to and support the community’s health needs following the fire.”
