JAKARTA – Google is once again hosting the ninth “Made by Google” event. At this event, Google officially launched its latest mobile phone, namely the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL.
For the first time, the Pro model comes in two different sizes, the Pixel 9 Pro with a 6.3-inch screen, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL is 6.8 inches, but both have a Super Actua screen and a 42 MP front camera.
Apart from the different screen sizes and all other features including charging and power speed, the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL have the same specs and features.
Designed with a new chip
Pixel 9 phones are powered by Tensor G4, Google DeepMind’s latest chip designed for more everyday use cases, like opening apps or browsing the web faster.
To ensure the AI-powered experience runs smoothly on your device, Google has improved the memory across the entire Pixel 9 family, with 12GB of RAM for Pixel 9 and 16GB for Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL.
AI support function
The Gemini Live feature, which lets you make free calls to Gemini right from your phone or Pixel Buds, is also available to all Gemini Advanced subscribers, including Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold owners.
In addition, this new phone is powered by Pixel Studio, an image generator from Google that allows you to create any idea from scratch right on your phone.
There’s also Pixel Screenshots, apps exclusive to Pixel 9 that help you save, capture, and remember important information for later use.
To better see the weather forecast, Google is releasing the AI-powered app Pixel Weather, which can predict the weather very accurately. And Gemini Nano creates a special AI weather report that gives you an overview of the weather that day.
As for camera performance, Google has also added an AI feature to help you improve your shots, from taking group photos of everyone to recording videos with Zoom.
Google’s latest Pixel 9 device is the first Android phone with a new SOS satellite, so you can contact emergency services and share your location via satellite even without cellular service.
And finally, there’s the new Call Memo feature, which sends you a personalized summary and full transcript of your phone call as soon as you hang up.
Availability and price
The Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL phones are available for pre-order starting today with prices ranging from $799 (IDR 12.6 million), $999 (IDR 15.8 million) and $1099 (IDR 17.4 million).
Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL will be available on August 22 in the Google Store and our retail partners. The Pixel 9 Pro, along with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, will be available in the US on September 4, and will be available in other markets in the following weeks.
