But with Chad Powers (a series about football) comes, maybe Powell can recover from what he lost. The newer show will probably move more towards comedy than Friday Night Lights but Powell will finally get to play a football player.

Accordingly People, Powell first auditioned for the role of Tim Riggins in Friday Night Lights, a role that ultimately went to Taylor Kitsch. Powell was apparently not deterred and later auditioned for JD McCoy in season 3, but the producers again rejected him and gave the role to Jeremy Sumpter. Things ultimately worked out well for Powell, as he played the role of Chad in Scream Queens on Fox. Powell’s impressive filmography (with his latest Twisters) has served him well.
