The time for talking is over for New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers as he prepares to face Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs on Thursday night.

Asked about the encounter, Nabers told reporters he was looking forward to it but declined to elaborate, saying: “Now it’s game time.”

Malik Nabers and Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs had some back and forth on social media over the summer. The two will compete against each other on Thursday.

Over the summer, the rookie wideout said he was the most excited to play against Diggs of any cornerback in the NFL, and the two-time Pro Bowler obviously took issue with that remark:

Diggs clearly has the edge in experience heading into Week 4, but Nabers could be the early favorite in this head-to-head matchup.

The No. 6 overall pick has caught 23 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns in three games. He delivered two highlight reel grabs in Sunday’s 21-15 win over the Cleveland Browns.

The Cowboys, on the other hand, have had two consecutive weeks in which their defense has struggled to slow down the opposing passing game.

Derek Carr was 11 of 16 for 243 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the New Orleans Saints’ 44-19 win over Dallas. Last Sunday, the Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson was an even more efficient 12-of-15 for 182 yards and a touchdown in a 28-25 win.

Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis defendant how the team was “not detailed in our work” after consecutive defeats.

Maybe the Cowboys secondary can do everything right against Daniel Jones. The Giants quarterback has thrown five interceptions in his eight starts against the Giants, two of which came from Diggs carrying the ball.

However, he will certainly have his hands full when he takes on Nabers.
