Get ready for upcoming changes to Sound Transit service

The changes to Sound Transit service this fall are so big that we couldn’t fit them all into a single day.

There will be some changes to Link, Sounder and ST Express, which will come into effect on different dates at the end of August and in September.

Changes in the northern counties of King and Snohomish

The biggest and most exciting change is the introduction of Line 1 to Lynnwood. On Friday, 30.AugustStarting now, trains will serve four new stations every eight minutes during peak periods – Lynnwood City Center, Mountlake Terrace, Shoreline North/185th Street and Shoreline South/148th Street.

This light rail expansion will be critical for the people who live and work in northern King and Snohomish counties and will be an important part of a growing integrated transportation system. With our partners at King County Metro and Community Transit, we have worked to reimagine how Link light rail, Swift bus rapid transit, and local bus transit can work together as an efficient, connected network.

Starting with Line 1, which serves Snohomish County 14 September Everett’s ST Express lines 512 and 513 will connect at Lynnwood instead of Northgate. We will also add a new temporary route – ST Express 515 – that will run between downtown Lynnwood and downtown Seattle to provide additional capacity before Line 2 crosses Lake Washington.

To 16 September We will be adding new Sounder N Line trips to provide even more options between Snohomish County and Seattle when upcoming planned work on I-5 causes slowdowns. View the new schedule here.

The ST Express Route 510 schedule will be updated to accommodate new Sounder N Line service.

Changes in Pierce County

Capacity is also an issue in Pierce County, and we are making changes to the ST Express 590 schedule to reduce onboard crowding. We are also adding a new early morning trip to 10th and Commerce. These changes will take effect September 1.

Preparations for more Eastside service

Pre-launch testing and simulated operations of the East Link extension into downtown Redmond are beginning, and we are adjusting the Line 2 schedule to effectively accommodate this. 14 September.

Stay tuned for more information on the opening of new stations in Marymoor Village and Downtown Redmond next spring.

That’s not all

These are the biggest service changes coming this fall, but there are also smaller adjustments to other ST Express schedules and routes. With so much going on, especially in the north, you should be prepared for changes to your journey.
