Georgia Tech trolls Florida State with EA Sports College Football 25 after a surprise

It took just one game for a major upset to occur in the 2024 college football season after Georgia Tech defeated No. 10 Florida State on a last-second field goal in its Week 0 opener on Saturday.

Tech proved to be the more physical team on both sides of the ball, scoring early and keeping up with the Seminoles throughout the game. And predictably, they had a lot of fun celebrating the big win.

A graphic was posted on the team’s social media page that reuses an appearance from EA Sports College Football 25 and includes the caption “Error!” and an image of a player disconnecting from the game.

“The connection to your peer has been lost,” it says on the image.

Florida State opened Week 0 play with an offensive drive that was capped by a touchdown run by Lawrance Toafili, before the Seminoles secured the two-point conversion and an 8-0 lead.

DJ Uiagalelei struggled in his debut for Florida State, managing less than 200 passing yards and not a single touchdown while averaging 1.2 yards rushing.

Haynes King completed 11 of 16 passes for Tech, averaging 9.1 yards in the air. He didn’t score any points, but Jamal Haynes ran for two touchdowns and Zach Pyron ran for a third.

And with that, our first AP Top 10 team suffered a loss on the first Saturday of the season.

However, the Seminoles’ playoff hopes are not immediately dashed by this loss. The expanded College Football Playoff means that a team can still qualify even with one or two losses.

But the surprise will reduce Florida State’s room for error in the future.
