The state of Florida is collapsing

After an undefeated 2023 regular season and a 10th-place finish in the preseason, the Seminoles have fallen out of the top 25. Florida State was the main game against Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland in Week 0, but a walk-off field goal by the Yellow Jackets handed the Seminoles just their second loss since 2022.

Then came Week 2 – an opportunity for the Seminoles to get back on track at home against a Boston College team ranked in the bottom five according to the ACC media poll. But Bill O’Brien had his new team more than prepared, and the Eagles took an early 14-0 lead and eventually won 28-13 in Tallahassee.

The Seminoles are 0-2 in the ACC and Mike Norvell’s team will face an uphill battle the rest of the season to get back in the running for a spot in the College Football Playoffs.

USC cheers against LSU

No. 13 Southern California makes the move of the week, jumping 10 spots after its 27-20 win over then-No. 13 LSU. Trojans quarterback Miller Moss shined, going 27 for 36 for 378 yards with a touchdown in the win.

Miami, Fla., also made some moves after its convincing 41-17 win over Florida in the Swamp. The Hurricanes jumped from No. 19 to No. 12 after a big performance from Cam Ward in Gainesville. And finally, Notre Dame moved into the top five after holding the Aggies to just 13 points in College Station.

📉 Faller

As mentioned, Florida State had the biggest drop, but along with the Seminoles, Clemson nearly joined them, dropping 11 spots to No. 25 after its 34-3 loss to No. 1 Georgia.

LSU slipped five spots to 18th after the game against Southern California. Oregon, which finished third in the preseason, eventually fell to seventh after a difficult win against Idaho in Eugene.

The best matches of the second week

Week 2 will feature No. 3 Texas and No. 10 Michigan. This will be only the second time in history that these two historic teams have faced each other. Their only other meeting came in the 2005 Rose Bowl, where the Vince Young-led Longhorns defeated the Wolverines 38-37 in Pasadena, California.

Here are the five games to keep an eye on in Week 2:
