George Clooney and Brad Pitt can always be relied upon to bring Hollywood star power to the Venice Film Festival.

The tuxedo-clad “Wolf” co-stars walked the red carpet under a barrage of bright flashbulbs on Sunday night, smiling and waving to photographers, just hours after Clooney denied a recent report that the A-list actors each received $35 million for their performances in the crime thriller starring Jon Watts, which streams on Apple TV+ on Sept. 27.

Clooney, 63, made a rare red carpet appearance with his wife Amal, 46, who wore a corset-like, soft yellow dress with a ruffle neckline and a train. The human rights lawyer clutched a glittering gold clutch, wore long, highlighted hair and dangling pearl earrings.

Pitt, 60, surprised by stepping out hand-in-hand with his girlfriend Ines de Ramon, a jewelry designer. He wore a tuxedo jacket with satin lapels and gold buttons over a black T-shirt and flared trousers, while she wore a white one-shoulder ruffled dress with triple disc earrings.

The 81st annual film festival runs through September 7.

“Wolves,” the new Apple TV+ movie starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney, will not be shown in theaters

Earlier, at a press conference in Venice the same day, Clooney and Pitt expressed their disappointment that the film, which will be shown out of competition at the festival, will only be in theaters for a week before being streamed.

“It’s a bummer,” Clooney said, but acknowledged that streaming services offer actors greater opportunities and a larger audience for their work. “We need that, our industry needs that.”

“We will always find the theatrical experience romantic,” Pitt added. “It’s a delicate balance right now, but it will settle down.”

When asked what it would mean if two of the biggest names in the industry did not come to theaters as they had requested, Clooney joked: “We clearly refuse.”

George Clooney denies that he and Brad Pitt received $35 million for ‘Wolfs’: ‘This is a terrible thing’

Pitt and Clooney, who last appeared together in the Coen brothers’ 2008 comedy “Burn After Reading,” said they jumped at the chance to reunite when they read Watts’ script for “Wolfs.”

“The older I get, the more important it has become to me to work with the people I really enjoy spending time with,” Pitt said, while Clooney joked that Pitt is lucky to be offered roles. “He’s very lucky to still be working at this age.”

Clooney also denied a New York Times report that said both stars received more than $35 million for their performances in “Wolfs.”

“It’s bad for our industry when people think that’s the benchmark for salaries,” said the actor. “I think that’s terrible. It becomes impossible to make a film.”
