Gary Neville reveals what Stockley Park told Jarred Gillett about Jurrien Timbers’ tackle on Pedro Porro

Arsenal face Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby today and defender Jurrien Timber could easily have found themselves in trouble.

The Arsenal defender could easily have been sent off after a rash tackle on Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro.

According to Gary Neville, Timber managed to put his foot on the ball so his tackle was not punished with a red card.

Gary Neville: “I’ve just heard what was passed to the VAR at Stockley Park. They said Timber put his foot on the ball and it didn’t roll over, which prevented a red card.”

Arsenal’s defenders will have to be more cautious with their tackles, especially in a game of this magnitude. Losing a player in a derby could prove to be a devastating blow and will certainly give Tottenham a huge advantage from then on.

Arsenal will be desperate to get all three points here and will need to ensure they finish the game with 11 players on the pitch. Mikel Arteta will surely be looking to settle his players at half-time and Arsenal will need to carefully manage the situation in the second half.

The Gunners have done quite well against Tottenham so far and will not want to give their rivals the upper hand by losing a player to a red card at any point in the game.
