The Buffaloes have scored three straight times since Deshawn Pace hit Deshawn Pace early in the first quarter.

Shedeur Sanders hit Will Sheppard for a 47-yard touchdown on 3rd-and-15 to put Colorado back ahead 14-7.

Sheppard reached out to Antione Jackson and made a diving grab into the end zone to tie the score. Sanders is 12 of 15 for 119 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.

The Knights and Buffaloes are tied 7-7 with 3:38 left in the first quarter.

Colorado’s big stars combined to score the game’s first score.

UCF was unable to capitalize on its defensive performance and came away empty-handed when Preston Hodge picked off KJ Jefferson from the 6-yard line on third down.

Hodge held on to Trent Whittemore and made a diving attack on an underthrown corner line toward the back left pylon.

RJ Harvey gained 16 yards on four carries on UCF’s first drive of the day.

UCF vs. Colorado injury updates

UCF

Defensive tackle John Walker remains unavailable due to a knee injury he suffered during fall camp last month. He has not yet made his debut in 2024.

However, quarterback KJ Jefferson and cornerback Brandon Adams will play against Colorado. Jefferson persevered through pain as the Knights rallied from a 21-point deficit to beat TCU on Sept. 14. Adams exited that contest in the fourth quarter, calling it “just a little cramp” on X (formerly Twitter).

“Everyone who played in the last game practiced,” UCF head coach Gus Malzahn said. “It was a good week to heal (during the farewell).”

Colorado

Starting defensive lineman Chidozie Nwankwo and running back Dallan Hayden will play against the Knights. Nwankwo missed the last two games due to an AC joint injury. Hayden has been sidelined for the past two weeks with a severe ankle sprain.

Safety Shilo Sanders could also return to the field this week. The Buffaloes’ leading tackler from a year ago underwent surgery on his right forearm following a loss to Nebraska in Week 2.

“Shilo is well on his way back,” said Sanders’ father and Colorado head coach Deion Sanders. “I won’t count this week (against UCF). I’m not going to count that, but if he holds out this week, that gives him two more weeks, which is pretty smart.”
