SOUTH BEND, Ind. – No. 17 Louisville Football will try to defeat No. 14 Notre Dame for the second straight year, but this time the game will be on the road.

The Cardinals face their first top 20 matchup of the season today. U of L is undefeated and is 3-0 for the second straight year under Jeff Brohm. A win over Notre Dame will not only give the Cardinals a confidence boost early in the season, but also provide a quality win as the team looks to reach the expanded College Football Playoff.

Notre Dame defeated Miami (Ohio) 28-3 last weekend.

Running back Jeremiyah Love evened the score with a 6-yard TD run, capping the Fighting Irish’s 12-play, 75-yard drive.

Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough found running back Isaac Brown in the corner of the end zone for a 10-yard touchdown. The Cardinals’ drive began after Tamarion McDonald recovered Notre Dame’s fumble on the opening kickoff.

Louisville cornerback Quincy Riley has officially been ruled out of today’s game against Notre Dame. The redshirt senior has started all three games so far this season.

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Louisville wide receiver Caullin Lacy is expected to make his debut against Notre Dame, while cornerback Quincy Riley is questionable. Lacy, a transfer from South Alabama, missed the first month of the regular season after breaking his collarbone in fall camp. He was expected to be the Cardinals’ starting receiver and was replaced by Jadon Thompson, who is now out for the season with an ankle injury.

Riley played cornerback in all three games and has added punt return duties to his repertoire. The redshirt senior suffered an apparent lower leg injury in the game against Georgia Tech and sat out most of the second half. So far this season he has totaled four tackles, one interception, one pass breakup and one forced fumble.
