Gabriel Pec and Riqui Puig power Galaxy past Rapids – Orange County Register

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – Rookie Gabriel Pec scored a goal early in the second half and assisted on two goals from Riqui Puig from there as the Galaxy cruised to a 3-1 win over the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday night to secure the goal The top seeds for the Western Conference playoffs came one step closer.

Neither team scored until Connor Ronan took a pass from Djordje Mihailovic and found the net in the 45th minute, giving the Rapids (15-12-5, 50 points) a 1-0 halftime lead. It was Ronan’s first goal of the season and the second of his two-year career. Mihailovic scored 11 goals and 14 assists in his first season with the club.

Pec even put the Galaxy (18-7-7, 61 points) ahead in the 50th minute when he took advantage of assists from Mark Delgado – his seventh – and defenseman Maya Yoshida – his first – to score his 14th to score points this season.

Pec received an assist when he set up Puig to open the scoring in the 58th minute. Dejan Joveljic also had an assist – his sixth.

Pec scored his 14th assist of the season as Puig scored a crucial goal in the first minute of stoppage time. Miguel Berry was also credited with his third assist on Puig’s 13th goal.
