HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech Athletics and Recreation has hired Gabe Frontuto as Recreation Program Manager. Frontuto began his role in July.

Frontuto assists with the general administration and operations of Michigan Tech Intramural Sports, Outdoor Adventure Program, and Youth Programming.

“I am so happy that Gabe is now part of our recreation team in a manager role,” said Jada Gullstrand, Director of Programming and Member Services. “During his time as a student employee, Gabe has demonstrated a great work ethic, strong communication skills, and the ability to lead others. Gabe will, without a doubt, be a great asset to the entire Athletics and Recreation Department, and we are all looking forward to working with such a great team player.”

“I have been involved in sports my entire life,” Frontuto added. “Through the sports I have played and the positions I have held in sports and recreation, I have developed a great sense of purpose. This new position allows me to continue my involvement in sports and recreation and share my passion for sports with the university community.”

Frontuto has been a Student Office Assistant at Michigan Tech Recreation since May 2022 and was named Cheryl A. DePuydt Recreation Services Employee of the Year in April 2023. He has also served as a counseling director for sports camps and is certified as an emergency first responder.

Frontuto holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a master’s of business administration, both from Michigan Tech. He was a six-year member of the football team and earned GLIAC All-Academic honors as an offensive lineman.
