Free streaming service Tubi finally launches in the UK

Tubi, the ad-supported and free streaming service, has finally launched in the UK over ten years after its launch.

The service, owned by Fox Corporation since 2020, launched in the US back in 2014 and fans wondered if it would ever be available in the UK.

However, fears have been allayed as the service is now finally available to viewers in the UK – and they can choose from over 20,000 films and TV episodes.

Launch movies include “Olympus Has Fallen,” “Happy Gilmore,” “Kill Bill Vol 1,” “Amsterdam,” “Happy Death Day,” and the Tubi original “Slay,” while launch TV shows include “Fresh Meat” and “Boss.”

Movies releasing in July include Billy Elliot, Charlie’s Angels and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, and on the TV front, Marvel’s Runaways will be added to the lineup this month.

“Tubi has spent the last decade refining our approach to rich, free and entertaining streaming in North America, and we believe now is the perfect time to bring that recipe to UK audiences,” said CEO Anjali Sud.

“We’re launching with one of the biggest and most diverse content libraries in the UK, designed to offer viewers everything from blockbusters to original stories and hidden gems. Most importantly, we’re listening to what resonates with UK fans and giving them more and more of what they love.”

“At a time when traditional programming seems homogenous and finding the right program feels like a chore, Tubi has managed to move beyond the monoculture of entertainment with content that appeals to diverse and dynamic fan bases,” added David Salmon, EVP and Managing Director of International at Tubi.

“We believe we can build a wonderfully broad, culturally sophisticated offering that puts the British audience back at the centre and makes it easy and fun to enjoy great entertainment from around the world.”
