Free Movie Weekend is just around the corner and to fully enjoy some free movies, be sure to head to the Capitol Theater.
So what exactly is Free Movie Weekend, you ask? It is part of Pluto TV’s Summer of Cinema. You may know Pluto TV: It is Paramount’s ad-supported streaming service. I have Schitt’s Creek was on it years ago; great platform.
The press release states: “Launched in 2021, Free Movie Weekend is designed to support local cinemas and encourage people to go to the movies again after a harrowing year of closures and lockdowns.” Want to support local businesses? I’m in.
Free Movie Weekend: Capitol Theatre
The 2024 edition of Free Movie Weekend kicked off in Los Angeles in June. Now, in mid-August, it’s finally coming to Massachusetts. And the Capitol Theater in Arlington is the hottest place on the weekend of August 17-18.
The Capitol, if you’re not familiar, opened on November 25, 1925. For the past 100 years, the beloved movie theater has been known to Arlington residents – and movie fans from surrounding towns – as “your home theater.” It’s definitely a favorite of my family.
Free film weekend: Now in cinemas
The Capitol is showing seven free movies on its six screens over the course of the weekend. And the best part? They’re new movies! Sometimes theaters show old favorites for free, too. That’s great! But seeing a new movie for free is a special treat.
