Frances Tiafoe vs Taylor Fritz LIVE: US Open results and outcome after Draper vomits during semi-final defeat
In an American versus American match, Frances Tiafoe will face Taylor Fritz for a place in the final.
Regardless of who wins tonight’s semifinal, it will be the first time in 18 years that an American has reached the men’s singles final of the US Open.
The match comes just hours after Jack Draper’s US Open run ended dramatically against world number one Jannik Sinner, in a brutal contest that left both players requiring medical attention.
Sinner won 7-5, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 after more than three hours, but the world number one was put under pressure the whole time by a tough Draper, who held out despite the heat and humidity in New York.
Draper, who was playing in his first Grand Slam semifinal at 22, was ill on court during a wild second set, and moments later Sinner injured his wrist after falling behind the baseline.
Both players called the coach, but Sinner pulled himself together and raised his game in the decisive tiebreak of the second set. After a monumental performance, Draper faltered in the third set.

Tiafoe now leads 4-3. The two Americans have had many long rallies, most of which have been won by Tiafoe. He usually comes to the net with a putaway and takes control of the court after struggling at the beginning of the match.
Compared to Fritz, Tiafoe now has three aces, which he hit with his second serve of the match.
Commentators said it was a “pro-Tiafoe” audience – which apparently benefits him.
