Outspoken filmmaker Quentin Tarantino praised “amazing” liberal co-host of Fox News Jessica Tarlov as the “hardest job in television” – and asked Bill Maher why there is no equivalent on MSNBC.
Tarantino was a guest at Maher’s Club Random Podcastin which the two argued about the 2024 election and whether Vice President Kamala Harris should be expected to give many interviews and press conferences in the run-up to the election.
This conversation was preceded by Tarantino’s observation that Tarlov remains tenacious in enemy territory – but there is no one in that role at MSNBC:
QUENTIN TARANTINO: Let me ask you something about that, because you know her. You had her on your show.
I thought, man, you have to get her on your show. And then you finally did it. I don’t know if you guys understood each other, but I have to ask you about one person that I’m really curious about, and, and, and even the existence of that one person is an interesting thing to me.
OK. Fox is Fox, MSNBC is MSNBC. They are much closer than we would like, but there is still enough difference between them. Is that right? But the proximity is a serious disadvantage for MSNBC.
BILL MAHER: Right? Right. I would agree with that.
QUENTIN TARANTINO: But there is still a difference between them.
BILL MAHER: Yes.
QUENTIN TARANTINO: Still! Still! Fox does Jessica Tarlov is hired. And she is put on her big show, and she says what she says, against the Fox audience, against the jury, and especially against Jeanine Pirro. OK. Monday through damn Friday.
BILL MAHER: Yes.
QUENTIN TARANTINO: As far as I can tell, it’s the hardest job in television. OK. And besides, they kind of like her – maybe not Jeanine, but they all kind of like her.
So you’re not going to freak out. All right. You stay respectful and. You know. And that’s the thing.
First of all, it’s kind of incredible. I think it’s one of the hardest jobs there is.
But secondly, how come this person is not on MSNBC?
BILL MAHER: Well, I asked the same question. And that says a lot about the left, because MSNBC is an offshoot of the left, which, you know, we probably are.
QUENTIN TARANTINO: Don’t tell Nicolle Wallace, you know, when you turned her. Fuck you. You turned her a decade ago. A decade ago!
BILL MAHER: Exactly. No, that’s what I said.
