Four-star WR Shamarius Peterkin commits to …

Virginia Tech made a big splash in recruiting today after four-star WR Shamarius Peterkin chose NC State over the Hokies rather than North Carolina.

The 6’2″ star player from Winston-Salem, NC is the fourth WR signed by the Hokies this cycle, joining 4-star WR Micah Matthews, 4-star WR Matthew Outten and 3-star WR Jayden Anderson. He is also the seventh 4-star WR to commit to the Hokies in the last three recruiting cycles, joining Ayden Greene, Chance Fitzgerald, Keylen Adams, Chanz Wiggins, Matthews and Outten. During his commitment, he also said he will play football and basketball at Virginia Tech.

Peterkin received offers from Virginia Tech, NC State, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida State, Penn State, Tennessee, Louisville, Maryland, West Virginia, South Carolina and more.

This may be the most impressive recruiting win of the class of 2025 yet. Virginia Tech went to North Carolina and beat out NC State and UNC to land a blue-chip star who is a top-10 recruit in his home state. WR coach Fontel Mines continues to score big recruiting wins while building the most talented WR room we’ve ever seen at VT based on recruiting rankings.

We will learn more as the story progresses.
