Disney owns the rights to Indiana Jones through its stake in Lucasfilm. However, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was the first film in the series to be produced and distributed by Disney. The first four films were distributed by Paramount Pictures.

Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm did not mean a cancellation of Paramount’s existing distribution agreement. Disney has signed a temporary deal with Paramount for the streaming rights to the first four Indiana Jones films around the release of “Dial of Destiny,” which will hit U.S. theaters in June 2023. According to reports, this contract ended on October 1, 2024. This means that the streaming rights have been returned to Paramount.

Before its release, Harrison Ford confirmed that Dial of Destiny would be the final Indiana Jones film.

Theme Park Rights

Disney is the only company that ever owned the rights to the Indiana Jones theme park. Prior to the acquisition, several Disney parks around the world already had Indiana Jones attractions (a new one is on the way).
