Former world boxing champion Amir Khan has put his multi-purpose event venue in his hometown of Bolton up for sale, just three months after opening. The 37-year-old posted on X under his legal name on Friday (23 August 2024) and revealed he is looking to sell his wedding hall for £12.5 million.

The British sportsman’s huge property consists of four floors, including three floors for weddings and a terrace for events. In addition, the car park has space for at least 200 vehicles. Interested parties are asked to contact him at [email protected].

Khan explained on X:

“I am looking to sell my wedding hall for £12.5 million. The property has four floors, including three floors for weddings and a roof terrace for events. In addition, there is parking available to the front and rear of the building for up to 200 vehicles. Interested parties can contact me via email at [email protected].”

After putting it up for sale, the former athlete wrote:

“I want to make it clear that despite my sale of the property, operations at Balmayna will continue without interruption. Business is thriving, there is great demand for weddings and events and our calendar is quickly filling up with bookings through to 2026. All operations and reservations will continue as planned.”

The building permit for the hotel construction was granted in 2013:

Meanwhile, Khan had invested in the property along with local businessman Mohammad Jaberansari. Although planning permission was granted in 2013, the project has faced numerous setbacks, according to various developments.

They had spent a whopping £10 million on the construction. Jaberansari said, according to the BBC:

“These types of venues are normally expected near London, not in Bolton, but I would prefer to invest in my home town.”
