Former Trump aide Cassidy Hutchinson says she is a conservative who is “proud” to vote for Kamala Harris

In an interview with MSNBC’s Lawerence O’Donnell on Wednesday, Cassidy Hutchison, a former adviser to Donald Trump, supported Vice President Kamala Harris, saying her former boss is a threat to democracy and should not be returned to power.

“Donald Trump and JD Vance cannot be trusted with the Constitution. They cannot be trusted to uphold our rule of law and they cannot be trusted to pursue responsible policies,” Hutchinson said. “That alone is disqualifying.”

Hutchinson, who recently wrote a book about her experiences in the Trump White House called “Enough,” also had harsh words for Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio.

“I try not to get into the minds of people who seem to have very scary thoughts, and JD Vance is one of those people,” she said.

Taking a stand against the Republican Party as a conservative is “scary,” according to the former aide whose explosive Jan. 6 statement detailed Trump’s involvement in the U.S. Capitol riots. But she said it was time to put country over party.

“As a conservative, I’m really, really proud to have the opportunity to vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in this election,” she told O’Donnell. “Politics is important.”

Harris would at least be open to discussing what was best for the country rather than what was best for her personally, Hutchinson said.

“I think it’s so important that we put this era of Donald Trump behind us so that America can begin to heal,” she concluded.
