Jaxon Smith-Njigba is a prime candidate to break out in his second NFL season with the Seattle Seahawks. The former Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver had a slower rookie year than expected but showed off his skills from the slot.

Pro Football Focus believes Smith-Njigba could get off to a fast start thanks to his cornerback matchup against the Denver Broncos in week one, one of three opponents to target in the opening week.

So why should fantasy football managers try to create JSN?

That’s because slot cornerback Ja’Quan McMillan should have his hands full this week. Not only is Smith-Njigba a No. 2 wide receiver, but McMillan also ranked low in PFF grades last season compared to other defensive backs.

“Smith-Njigba’s slot role in 2023 allowed him to play 58 receiving snaps (16.6%) against linebackers in primary coverage,” wrote PFF’s Nic Bodiford. “As previously described, Denver’s linebackers offer few options in pass coverage, and the new starting safety corps is limited in its ability to cover McMillan and the linebackers.”

With Smith-Njigba receiving a lot of praise lately, this is just another opportunity for him to shine this season. PFF believes he will put his talents on full display against the Broncos. It’s just a matter of confidence from fantasy managers.

If Smith-Njigba does indeed shine and dominate against McMillan and the Broncos, it could pay off hugely for those who selected him in the draft this year.
