Former NFL star Drew Bledsoe criticizes Tony Romo for his handling of taking over the job at the Cowboys: “Had an answer to all questions”

Former NFL star Drew Bledsoe took a swipe at his successor at the Dallas Cowboys, Tony Romo, in a segment on ESPN on Sunday before the league’s games kicked off.

Bledsoe appeared on Sunday NFL Countdown to talk about being the veteran quarterback player he was with the New England Patriots when he was eventually replaced by Tom Brady and with the Cowboys when Romo eventually replaced him.

Bledsoe recalled disagreeing with then-head coach Bill Parcells’ decision to replace him with Romo.

“If you look at that Romo, you know that’s true. The moment he became a starter, he became pretty big in his own eyes,” Bledsoe said during the segment. “He was no longer the curious and inquisitive guy. That was the difference between him and (Tom Brady). Tommy became a starter, he was still asking all the questions, whereas Romo was suddenly the guy who had all the answers.”

Representatives for Romo did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Bledsoe joined the Cowboys after three seasons with the Buffalo Bills. He started the 2005 season and played in each of the team’s 16 games. In 2006, he was taken out of the Week 6 game against the New York Giants and never played again.

At the start of the 2006 season, Romo had not thrown a single pass in the regular season.

Romo spent the rest of his career with the Cowboys, but suffered an injury that led to Dak Prescott taking the reins. He is now a color analyst for CBS.
