Former New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz joins TNT Sports as an analyst

Former New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz did not have the NFL career he had hoped for, marred by injuries that ended his career prematurely. Cruz played five seasons with the Giants before injuries forced him to retire.

After his retirement, Cruz joined ESPN as an analyst.

Cruz is moving on to the next phase of his career, now working as an analyst for TNT Sports. TNT is kicking off its first season of Mountain West football coverage and announced a new commentary lineup on Wednesday.

Joining Cruz will be former NFL stars Champ Bailey and Takey Spikes as analysts for studio coverage of the Mountain West, and the studio shows will be hosted by Adam Lefkoe.

Cruz was an undrafted free agent when he entered the league and was known for his speed, acrobatic catches and salsa dancing skills after every touchdown.

In his five seasons in New York, Cruz had 303 catches for 4,549 yards and 25 touchdowns with just three fumbles. He struggled to recover from a torn patellar tendon in 2014 and missed the 2015 season with a calf injury.

Cruz returned to the field in 2016, but was released by the Giants in 2017. He moved to the Chicago Bears, but was released in September of that year. He eventually announced his retirement before the 2018 season and joined ESPN.

Coverage of the Mountain West Conference begins August 29 and marks the first time TNT Sports has covered college football since 2006.
