Former Husker Cam Taylor-Britt makes incredible interception against Patrick Mahomes

A former Nebraska football star continues to play on Sundays in the National Football League.

Blackshirt alumnus Cam Taylor-Britt made a spectacular interception on Sunday afternoon during the Cincinnati Bengals’ game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. The one-handed catch on the visitors’ sideline came at the end of the third quarter when Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes attempted a go route against CTB.

The former Huskers cornerback secured the interception and matched up with rookie receiver Xavier Worthy. The speedy receiver was hoping to create another big play for the Chiefs, as Taylor-Britt had been beaten on a long touchdown pass by Kansas City’s Rashee Rice earlier in the game. The interception at the end of the quarter was considered CTB’s fifth career pick.

Taylor-Britt, a second-round draft pick in 2021, finished his NU career as an All-Big Ten second-team selection in consecutive seasons in 2020 and 2021. He earned honorable mention from the conference in 2019. Britt recorded 51 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack and 11 pass breakups, which is his personal best, in his final season at Lincoln and ranked third in the conference with a pass defensed in each game.

In his third season in the NFL, Taylor-Britt started 21 of a possible 22 games. In his second year, he had four interceptions, including a pick-six. Taylor-Britt has 17 career passes defensed and seven career forced turnovers, including two forced fumbles.

The game ended with a game-winning 51-yard field goal by Harrison Butker, giving Kansas City a 26-25 victory over the Bengals. The final three points put Cincinnati at 0-2 at the start of the season.

The Nebraska alumnus was featured in an off-season episode of the Husker football documentary series “Chasing 3,” in which Taylor-Britt is pursuing his bachelor’s degree at the university. The defensive back is a proud Nebraska alumnus and continues his nickname “Forever Blackshirt” in his social media bio.
