Former Eagle Jason Kelce makes his first “Monday Night Countdown” unforgettable

Jason Kelce stays busy even after his retirement.

The former Eagles center traded his football for a microphone and his flip-flops for dress shoes as he finished his regular season at ESPN Monday evening countdown Debuting in Santa Clara, California, with host Scott Van Pelt and analysts Marcus Spears and Ryan Clark.

But there is one thing he forgot to replace: his travel bag.

Here’s everything you may have missed from Kelce’s unforgettable debut:

Wardrobe malfunction

The future Hall of Famer started the show on a strong note by admitting he was wearing a dress shirt straight off the rack. Kelce left his duffel bag in the truck and was forced to go to a local mall to purchase a new white button-down shirt, which Clark joked was from Lululemon.

Trading in flip-flops and luchador masks

Despite the wardrobe malfunction, Kelce forwent his iconic flip-flops and luchador mask and instead wore a more elegant look.

But the jacket didn’t make it into the show.

If you’re wondering what other hobbies a former NFL player has in his free time, fantasy football is one of them.

When discussing the Browns’ performance in the season opener against the Cowboys, Kelce, a Cleveland Heights native, said Cleveland is his dream defense (sorry, Eagles fans).

Kelce’s experience

For Kelce, it wasn’t just jokes. He drew on his own experience and credibility to analyze Aaron Rodgers’ return. Monday Night Football after suffering a torn Achilles tendon four plays into the 2023 season.

Similarly, Kelce suffered a torn medial collateral ligament and a partial tear of his anterior cruciate ligament in 2012. “After that injury, you just wait for the first contact – until it happens, you don’t know what it’s going to feel like or what’s going to happen,” he said.

I can’t escape Kelce

Even during commercial breaks, Kelce’s face is still visible. His new commercial for Campbell’s Chunky Soup is a good reminder of that.

In the spot, Kelce, wearing an Eagles robe and flip-flops, lies on a furry rug by the fireplace and eats Campbell’s soup.
