Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield seems to have finally found a home. In Week 1, Mayfield put on an incredible performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, leading his team to victory.

In a dominant 37-20 win over the Washington Commanders, Mayfield played one of the best games of his career.

Ultimately, he completed 24 of his 30 pass attempts for 289 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions, as well as gaining 21 yards on the ground.

Even though he’s no longer with the Browns, it’s nice to see him handling things and finding himself again.

In the NFL offseason, Mayfield was rewarded for his good 2023 season with a lucrative three-year, $100 million contract. Apparently, the Buccaneers wanted to keep him just as badly as Mayfield himself hoped to stay.

At 29, Mayfield looks like a franchise quarterback for Tampa Bay and appears to be reaching the full potential he showed at times in Cleveland.

For Tampa Bay, starting the season with such a dominant win is huge. They play in an NFC South division where everything seems wide open, but the Buccaneers could stake a claim with a strong start to the year.

Still, it will be interesting to see if Mayfield can play at this level for a full season. A strong Week 1 game is great, but he needs to keep it up and lead Tampa Bay to playoff success. If he can do that, he will prove he should be considered one of the NFL’s stars.

Browns fans still like Mayfield for the most part. His tenure in Cleveland didn’t go as planned, but he’s done well and always provides entertainment on the field.
