OLD TOWN – Maine Tree Farm and Maine Woodland Owners will host a Forestry Field Day on Saturday, September 7, in honor of Larry and Barbara Beauregard, Maine’s 2024 Most Outstanding Tree Farmers.
The Beauregards received this award from Maine Tree Farm for their work in managing the Beauregard Family Woodland; the event will take place at
Property on Old Stagecoach Road.
Forestry Field Day runs from 8:30am to 3pm and is a free, all-ages event open to the public. The day is packed with forest tours and presentations, an awards ceremony, and opportunities to interact with forestry experts and forest owners and managers.
The tours will showcase various approaches that promote healthy and productive forests, as well as ways to promote wildlife habitat and pollinators, protect water quality, monitor and reduce forest pests and diseases, and identify tree species and measure trees. There will also be informative exhibits that participants can visit to learn more about important forest management topics, according to a press release from Pamela Dorman of Maine Woodland Owners.
Lunch is available for $15 and can be ordered at mainewoodlandowners.org.
Parking for Forestry Field Day is located at the Maine Forest Service Central Region Headquarters, 87 Airport Road. Shuttles will be available to and from the event at regular intervals. The first shuttle departs the parking lot at 8 a.m. The last shuttle departs the event at 3:30 p.m. Those needing closer parking or wishing to bike to the event can request information by calling 207-621-9872 or emailing [email protected].
