Temperatures have been well below average for this time of year over the past few weeks, but summer is not over yet and Mother Nature will show it in the next few days. Heat advisories are in effect for much of central Missouri through Tuesday evening.
Forecast for Monday
Monday will start warm and humid with temperatures between 21 and 25 degrees. Temperatures will rise to 35 degrees in the afternoon under sunny skies. The heat index is expected to be between 40 and 43 degrees.
Hot weather most of the week
Highs will remain around 35 degrees on Tuesday, with temperatures dropping slightly to the low to mid 35 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, before a cold front causes temperatures to drop to around 25 degrees on Friday.
Dew points between tropical and stormy temperatures are expected through Thursday. The cold front will bring a drop in humidity through Friday.
Heat index values will be between 105 and 110 °C on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday and Thursday, values will be closer to 100 °C. On Friday, values will drop significantly with cooler air.
HEAT PROTECTION
Remember to take the necessary heat protection measures, such as taking frequent breaks, wearing light clothing and drinking plenty of water.
When you spend time outdoors, be aware of symptoms of heat-related illness.
OUTLOOK
A cold front will move through on Friday, and another front is expected toward the end of the weekend, bringing continued cooler air for Labor Day weekend.
