Ford Bronco Sport Sasquatch package teased, a sweet but expensive crypt

The smallest Bronco will be a little monster, at least according to the Instagram teaser below. Ford released a short video of a mud-caked Bronco Sport, making it clear that a Sasquatch off-road package will be offered. A giant hairy arm and accompanying grunts from the creature appear in the middle of the video, and the arm spells out “8/26,” so expect a full reveal on August 26.

The Sasquatch package for the big Bronco is a pretty significant off-road upgrade, including locking front and rear differentials, 35-inch mud tires, more off-road-capable Bilstein shocks, and larger fender flares to protect the big tires. We’ll have to wait until the reveal to know for sure if the Sasquatch follows the same formula, but spy photos of a beefed-up Bronco Sport (see below) suggest the formula could be changed a bit on the smaller SUV.

This is the Bronco Sport we saw in May. It has extra metal armor on the bumpers and looks like it has significantly higher suspension than the other Sport models. But the tire size is the same as the Badlands, the most aggressive Bronco Sport currently available. The tires appear to have a more aggressive tread and likely a different rubber compound to support this.

We suspect the Sasquatch package will only be offered on the Badlands trim, which already includes the dual-clutch torque vectoring rear differential. We’re curious to see if Ford does anything more to the powertrain. At least one or two retuned or entirely new drive modes seem likely. An upgraded front differential, possibly a mechanical limited-slip differential unit, would be really impressive. Of course, anything included will cost extra, and with the Badlands already costing just under $40,000, the mini-Sasquatch could get expensive.
