Din Djarin and Grogu, star Wars‘ The popular father-son duo returns for their own film. The Mandalorian and GroguAfter the events of The Mandalorian Season 3 will see the couple embark on a new adventure that we know little about yet, as according to director Jon Favreau, production on the film only recently began and filming began a few weeks ago. While not much is known about the film yet, exclusive footage shown at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event has given some insight into what’s going on with the duo.

The Mandalorian and Grogu Footage shown to fans at D23 showed snippets of Din and Grogu’s next adventure. The footage saw Din and Grogu take on the Imperial remnant after being rescued by none other than Star Wars Rebels’ Zeb Orrelios. Other details include an incredible action sequence with AT-ATs and the return of the Razor Crest. However, a subtle detail concerning Grogu has massive implications for him in the next star Wars Film.

He is now more Mandalorian than Jedi

The teaser shows the large piece of Grogu’s Rondel armor worn differently than in The Mandalorian Season 3. Whether this was Din’s or Grogu’s decision, one thing becomes clear: Grogu finds himself in the Mandalorian’s path. Although he briefly trained under Luke Skywalker, this clip shows Grogu becoming a different kind of warrior – one under the faith and protection of Mandalore. This will be an important development for Grogu’s arc in the film.

Will he take bigger risks in the film?

Grogu’s journey to integrate into the Mandalorian way of life seems to accelerate after the events of Season 3. This seems to shift Grogu’s mindset towards a more warlike direction. It could also simply be that Din is trying to ensure the safety of his child. Both reasons mean Grogu is likely to get into more dangerous situations that require the protection of the Rondel. In the D23 footage, Grogu walked down a shaft alone. Perhaps he is beginning to find the path of the Mandalorian within himself.
