Food Truck & Vendor Festival Fills Bellies and Fills American Cancer Society’s Coffers | News, Sports, Jobs
WILLIAMSTOWN – The Relay For Life of Wood County-Williamstown hosted its second annual Food Truck & Vendor Festival featuring the Golf Cart Poker Run on Saturday at Tomlinson Park.
Visitors enjoyed more than 19 stands and food trucks.
In addition to the food trucks and vendors, the morning began with a Golf Cart Poker Run that went through the city to five stops where you could see the best and worst poker hands in hopes of winning a prize.
Around 300 people attended throughout the day to enjoy the car show with 30 cars, including a Delorean, organizers said.
The children had fun on the inflatable obstacle course and there was bingo for the adults.
Organizers said many were impressed by the fiddlers from the Williamstown Strings Program and the Waverly Run Bluegrass/Gospel group.
The organizers thanked their sponsors and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make the event possible.
“In times like these, we need hope and light in our communities,” said Carmen Hathaway of the American Cancer Society. “This event truly embodied the solidarity and caring of the small town of Williamstown.
“We are pleased to host this event to benefit the ACS as all proceeds go to cancer research, education and transportation to and from cancer treatment with the goal of finding a cure.”
The Williamstown Relay For Life began in 2005 and this year merged with the Relay For Life of Wood County, where it gained more support to host the festival, organizers said, adding that they expect continued growth in the coming years.
The organizers are looking forward to another large turnout next year.
