After completing 20 preseason practices, Florida State is now turning its full attention to game preparation for Saturday’s season opener against Georgia Tech.
Due to the trip to Ireland, the usual press conferences during the season on Monday were postponed to Sunday.
Florida State head coach Mike Norvell said the program is proud to have ESPN’s College GameDay for the Dublin game, which continues Florida State’s reputation for not only being part of the first on-campus game in franchise history (1993 against Notre Dame) but now being part of the first international broadcast.
Norvell said 2024 was the most “explosive” preseason since his arrival in 2019, according to GPS readings and weight room data.

Offensive coordinator and line coach Alex Atkins, who is suspended for the first three games of the season for facilitating unauthorized contact between student-athletes and supporters, will help with game preparation but will serve the suspension and will not coach on Saturday.

Florida State trains Monday through Wednesday in Tallahassee and Thursday and Friday in Dublin.
Florida State opens the 2024 season with the Aer Lingus College Football Classic against Georgia Tech on August 24 at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.
The Seminoles finished the 2023 season 13-1, with an ACC title and their first New Year’s Six Bowl appearance in 7 seasons.
Florida State added 14 players from the transfer portal and a high school recruiting class that ranked 14th in the 2024 cycle. The early signing period for 2025 prep signees begins Wednesday, Dec. 4 and ends Dec. 6.
