With Florida State’s 2024 football season threatening to become a complete disaster after just two games, coach Mike Norvell knows he needs to find answers fast.
“I’m tired of the way this season started. Tonight I failed to prepare the team to go out there and respond,” Norvell said after Monday night’s 28-13 loss to Boston College that dropped the defending ACC champions to 0-2, with both losses coming against conference opponents.
“You have a football team here that nobody thought would ever be where we are now and would experience disappointments and failures, but I firmly believe in what this team can do,” Norvell said.
Things haven’t been going well for the Seminoles this season.
New quarterback DJ Uiagalelei struggled to get going, and fans even called for him to be benched in Monday’s loss to BC. And on defense, the Seminoles allowed 263 yards and two touchdowns, with former FSU running back Treshaun Ward totaling 138 yards and a receiving score.
It was all too reminiscent of how Georgia Tech imposed its will against FSU in the season opener.
“There’s going to be a lot of negativity around this program. I understand that,” Norvell said. “When we perform like we did right now, that’s part of it. But our football team, we have to stick together and make sure we’re there for each other. We’ve been knocked down. We know how to get back up, but we have to do that now.”
