Flood warning, thunderstorms and rain expected this evening

There’s a lot to see on the Central Coast this evening, so let’s get started.

There are two weather warnings in place for our area this evening. The first is a flash flood warning. This is in effect until 7pm and means that if you are in the area marked in green below, you should be prepared for flash flooding.

The next warning is a Flood Warning, which means there is a risk of flooding in the area. Just because you are in the green area shown below doesn’t mean you will see it. This warning is in effect until 11 p.m. in Kern County and until 5 a.m. Friday near Ventura.

We will introduce you to three different types of weather warnings. Here is an overview of the differences between the three types. Today we will only talk about an observation and a warning.

These are the expected amounts of rain and when it will occur.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s look at what high temperatures you can expect tomorrow and what the weather will be like this weekend.

Coastal areas:

Highs of 21 degrees and scattered clouds are expected in Santa Barbara on Friday. Temperatures will rise to 24 degrees by the weekend.

In Lompoc, highs will be in the low 68s with scattered clouds before temperatures rise to the low 75s to 80s over the weekend.

In Santa Maria, the maximum temperature tomorrow will be 20 degrees Celsius, with scattered clouds and temperatures around 25 degrees over the weekend.

In Pismo Beach, highs will be 15 degrees Celsius tomorrow with some clouds before temperatures rise to around 18 degrees Celsius over the weekend.

San Luis Obispo is expected to see highs of 73 degrees Fahrenheit and light clouds tomorrow before temperatures drop to just above 80 degrees Fahrenheit over the weekend.

Valley areas:

In Santa Ynez, you can expect highs of 24 degrees tomorrow before temperatures reach the mid-30s over the weekend.

In Paso Robles, temperatures will reach 27 degrees tomorrow with partly cloudy skies before rising to the 30s over the weekend, with triple-digit temperatures possible early next week.

In Cuyama, highs will be in the 80s tomorrow, with low 90s expected over the weekend.
