Alabama has the edge over its all-time SEC rival. The Crimson Tide have won 43 times, while the Bulldogs have taken home 26 wins and the teams have tied four times. The last draw took place in 1954 when the game ended 0-0. The programs were actually tied in three of their first seven meetings. In 1901 and 1907 the teams drew 0-0, and in 1908 the game ended in a draw 6-6.

Alabama and Georgia have played nine times since 2008. All but one of these encounters featured a team in the top three. The only exception is the match on October 3, 2015, where Georgia was ranked 8th and Alabama was ranked 13th.

In the last three meetings the teams have faced each other, one of which was ranked No. 1 in the country. Each time the No. 1 team lost the game. In the 2021 SEC Championship, No. 3 Alabama beat No. 1 Georgia. In the 2022 national title game, No. 3 Georgia beat No. 1 Alabama. In the 2023 SEC Championship, No. 8 Alabama beat No. 1 Georgia.

The series has fluctuated back and forth over the years, with long winning streaks being commonplace.

Georgia’s longest winning streak came from 1910 to 1916, when the Bulldogs took five straight wins from Alabama and seven of eight wins.

Alabama’s longest streak lasted from 2008 to 2021, when the Crimson Tide won seven straight against Georgia. Alabama has actually won five times in a row, while Georgia has only won more than two times in a row twice.

The Crimson Tide has maintained a stranglehold on the rivalry for the past 15 years. Nick Saban took over as head coach at Alabama in January 2007. Saban won his last match against Georgia, which came in the 2023 SEC Championship. In that game, No. 8 Alabama beat No. 1 Georgia 27-24.

During that time, the two programs faced each other twice in the national championship game. The first came in the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship, which Alabama won 26-23 in overtime.

They have also appeared in the SEC Championship Game four times, with Alabama winning all four times.
