BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – One of the core values ​​of Florida Tech sports is “Build Your Legacy,” and this November, the legacies of five Panthers and one team at Crimson and Gray will be celebrated with induction into the Florida Tech Sports Hall of Fame.

The class of 2024 will be admitted on Saturday, November 9th.

The ceremony will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Clemente Center in collaboration with Legacy of 37.

Women’s Golf 2019National Champions

Team members included Noelle Beiijer, Megan Dennis, Alexis Dizinno, Lucy Eaton, Hailey Ko, Marybeth McGuire, Paola Ortiz, Lauren Watson, Chris Saltmarsh (coach) and Mitch Greenburg (assistant coach).

The Panthers women’s golf team won the school’s first national championship in the sport and ninth overall in May 2019 at the Champion Course at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, by defeating No. 3 California State San Marcos 4-1 in the match play final.

Beijer and Eaton were named WGCA Second Team All-America and Ortiz received honorable mention.

Austin Allenbaseball (2013-2015)

Austin Allen is one of the best backstops to ever play for Florida Tech. His career batting average of .377 is the second-highest in program history, while his on-base percentage of .442 and slugging percentage of .619 rank fourth and third, respectively.

Allen’s 57 career doubles are the second most in program history and his 22 career home runs rank seventh.

In 2015, Allen posted a .415 batting average, which ranks fifth-highest in a single season in program history, while his .723 slugging percentage ranks third-highest.

He had 81 hits, which ranked fifth in a season, and set a single-season record with 25 doubles. In addition, his 56 RBIs and 141 total bases rank sixth and fourth, respectively.

He was a member of the Panthers’ 2013 and 2015 NCAA Tournament teams. Tech had a record of 94-54 (.635) during his three years with the Crimson and Gray.

Allen was selected in the fourth round of the 2015 MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres, making him Florida Tech’s highest draft pick of all time.

He made his major league debut on May 11, 2019, becoming the only Panther, along with Tim Wakefield, to reach the majors. He hit his first major league home run on August 5, 2020, with the Oakland Athletics.

Allen was named to the All-SSC First Team in 2013 and 2015 and was the 2013 SSC Freshman of the Year.

Chris Cacciapaglia – Men’s Cross Country (2009-2012)

Cacciapaglia competed from 2009 to 2012. He was named the 2012 SSC Runner of the Year after becoming the third Panther to win the SSC Championship race with a time of 25:56.50, finishing ten seconds ahead of the runner-up.

Cacciapaglia earned First Team All-SSC honors in 2012 and was named USTFCCCA All-South Region that same year thanks to a third-place finish at the NCAA South Region Championship. He earned those honors thanks to five top-seven finishes, including four top-five finishes.

He was a member of the team that reached the DII National Championship in 2012, the only time Florida Tech accomplished this as a team. His outstanding performance earned him a spot on the 2010 SSC Second Team All-Decade.

Victor Rocha Furtado – Swimming, Men (2015-2019)

Victor Rocha Furtado, a member of the 2017 national champion 200 freestyle relay team, played a key role in growing Panther men’s swimming from its infancy into a serious program.

He participated in the national championships every four years.

In 2018, Furtado placed second in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle at the NCAA Division II Championships, posting impressive times of 19.66 and 43.18, respectively. In addition, he placed 10th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 47.91.

In 2017, Furtado swam a time of 20.12 in the 50-yard freestyle at the NCAA Division II Championship Festival, securing 10th place. He placed sixth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 43.71.

Furtado was named All-American five times as an individual and eleven times as a member of relay teams.

Furtado was named to the First Team All-SSC in the 2016–17, 2017–18 and 2018–19 seasons.

Kristina Huba – women’s tennis (2010-2014)

Kristina Huba ranks fourth all-time in singles with 80 wins and in doubles with 79 wins. Her career is one of the most successful Panthers have ever played the court.

In the 2013-14 season, Huba was ranked 15th in the national singles rankings at the beginning of the spring season and finished the season ranked 8th. She set the record for most wins all-time on February 15, 2014 against Flagler.

During the 2012-13 season, Huba earned ITA All-American status in singles and was ranked No. 5 in the final ITA singles poll. This earned her SSC Player of the Year honors, the first such honor in program history. That same season, Huba became the first Panther to win the ITA Southern Region Championship.

She finished third at the USTA/ITA National Championships. Huba finished the season as the No. 1 singles player with an overall record of 31-4 in singles.

During the 2011-12 season, Huba led the team with a 17-5 singles record, including 6-2 in conference play. She was ranked in the top 14 in the region the entire season.

Kristina achieved a record of 17-7 in doubles, along with her sister Katarina Huba a record of 15-6. They finished 6th nationally and 2nd in the South Region.

In the 2010/11 season, she achieved an overall record of 20:1 in doubles with her sister Katarina Huba.

She was named SSC Athlete of the Year in Women’s Tennis in 2013.

Randy Muns – Athletics fan

Randy Muns played four years of baseball at Florida Tech as an infielder and catcher and was twice captain of the Panthers from 1975 to 1978.

Muns was the first baseball player to have more than four hits in five games and the first to hit a cycle in 1977 against Flagler College.

After graduating, Muns signed as a free agent with the Chicago Cubs minor league organization and returned to Florida Tech the following year on a graduate scholarship to pursue his master’s degree. There, he spent two years as an assistant baseball coach under Les Hall, coaching pitchers and catchers while also teaching undergraduate business courses.

Muns chose Florida Tech after meeting Andy Seminick at a high school all-star game in Fort Lauderdale and learning about the opportunities available there.

Muns was a major donor to Florida Tech Athletics, helping develop the Les Hall/Andy Seminick Baseball Complex and baseball field lighting, and was a major donor to the Chopper Dropper event that supports the athletics program.

He has been a member of the Florida Tech Board of Trustees for over 12 years and currently serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees’ Athletics Committee.

Muns holds two degrees from Florida Tech: he earned his bachelor’s degree with honors in 1978 and his MBA in 1980.

He holds a Fellow-level certificate in Production and Inventory Management and has presented at numerous national and international conferences on industrial technology-related topics throughout his 45-year business career.

The Florida Tech Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1986 to honor those who have made outstanding contributions to Florida Tech athletics.

The purpose is to honor those who have brought honor, distinction and excellence to the university’s athletic program. Since its inception, 62 individuals and nine teams have been named to the list.
