Five chapters of the League of Women Voters are jointly hosting a candidate forum for District 3

The League of Women Voters of El Dorado, Placer, Nevada, Plumas and Sacramento counties have joined together to host a regional candidate forum for the California Assembly’s Third District seat, inviting candidates running for the seat in November to introduce themselves to the public and discuss their views on important issues.

Rep. Kevin Kiley (R) and candidate Jessica Morse (D) received invitations last week and were asked to respond by August 16.

The proposed forum will be held at the Community Services Hall at 1021 Harvard Way, El Dorado Hills, CA, on a date determined by the candidates. The public is invited to attend in person. The forum will also be recorded for on-demand viewing. Questions will be solicited from the community in advance and reviewed by the League of Women Voters for consolidation, relevance, fairness, and applicability to both candidates.

“Candidate forums are a type of job interview, providing the 350,000+ voters in the Third District with the opportunity to personally meet the candidates vying for their valuable votes,” said Jan Bedayn, co-president of the League of Women Voters of Nevada County and organizer of the collaboration. “Candidates get the opportunity to introduce themselves and their ideas in a neutral format, and voters can ask questions about important issues in their communities to find out who is the best person for the job. It’s a win-win. We look forward to providing this service to voters.”
