“Finally a boy!”: What we learned from the new investigation into Putin’s secret sons

The investigative magazine “Dossier Center” released an investigation that sheds light on the lives of the two alleged young sons of President Vladimir Putin and Alina Kabaeva, an excellent Russian gymnast and long-time partner of the president.

The Moscow Times has summarized the main findings of the investigation into the lives of Ivan Putin and Vladimir Putin Jr.:

Long-awaited male heirs

The Kremlin has long denied any relationship between 71-year-old Putin and 41-year-old Kabaeva, although the two have been linked in the media as romantic partners for over a decade and are believed to have children together.

Dossier’s investigations suggest that the relationship between Putin and Kabaeva may have begun as early as 2008. In spring 2015, the couple had their first son, Ivan, at the Sant’Anna maternity clinic in Lugano, Switzerland, the newspaper said.

The couple’s second son, Vladimir Putin Jr., was born in Moscow in spring 2019.

“In both cases, the decision on the place of birth was made by the president himself,” Dossier quoted one of its sources as saying.

“On several occasions, Ivan Putin told his teachers and security guards … that Vladimir Putin was so happy at his birth that he shouted: ‘Hurrah! Finally! A boy!'” the investigation said.

Isolated life

Putin’s two sons live in almost complete isolation in the presidential palace villa in the Valdai National Park in the Russian Novgorod region northwest of Moscow, Dossier said.

The boys are surrounded by nannies, governesses and sports coaches who live in the villa, but according to investigations, they have little contact with other children their age.

“They mostly have to play alone or with adults… They only see their parents late at night and their peers – mainly during big parties,” Dossier wrote.

Every year the family travels to Putin’s residence near the Black Sea resort of Sochi, where they spend most of their time skiing.

During the summer months, the boys and their mother take long yacht trips – now limited to “safe waters” within Russia – and spend time at Putin’s residences in Crimea and Sochi.

The family has an armored train, several airplanes, helicopters and yachts at its disposal.

Foreign teachers

Governesses and teachers for Ivan and Vladimir Jr. are sought through the online recruitment website English Nanny.

The most recent job vacancy related to Putin’s family was that of an English teacher for the two boys.

The teacher was promised paid accommodation, a five-day work week and a salary of 7,700 euros ($8,500) a month. However, the ad also said he would be banned from leaving the family home and that a potential candidate would have to pass a series of medical examinations to prove his suitability for the job.

Preference was given to teachers from South Africa, which Putin’s family considers a “friendly” country, according to dossier sources.

The children also attend music and German lessons with a woman named Sofija Božić, a Bosnian citizen who has been working with the family since 2017.

“Teachers and coaches rarely interact directly with the family… When a teacher needs something, he or she communicates with the family’s assistants,” the study said.

Disney Obsession

Putin’s eldest son Ivan is obsessed with According to the investigation, he likes Disney cartoons and movies and enjoys dressing up as some of his favorite characters.

This passion is likely to displease Putin, who specified His preference for Soviet-made cartoons has been expressed several times.

Both children also have a large Lego collection and several iPads that they use for games and online lessons.

sport

Both children have personal trainers in swimming and gymnastics.

Ivan has already taken part in several artistic gymnastics competitions, but according to the dossier, his results were not promising.

Putin’s eldest son is also an aspiring hockey player and often plays with his father in the evenings on the residence’s hockey rink.

Kabaeva is also said to attend games where her husband and son play together, but she prefers to watch the games from behind an opaque glass pane to remain hidden from the eyes of servants and staff, Dossier’s sources say.
