Pictures of Adam Sandler practicing his golf swing in the sand with a scenic view of the water have gone viral as filming began on the Happy Gilmore sequel. The Highlands set marks the start of production on Happy Gilmore 2 in New Jersey.

Last month, thousands of aspiring actors flocked to the Hyatt Regency in Morristown for the open casting for the Netflix film. Videos posted on social media showed long lines stretching for several blocks and across town, causing massive traffic jams as audience members waited for their chance to be part of the film.

The casting call, organized by GWCI, was first announced via Instagram in August.

Where is “Happy Gilmore 2” filmed?

The company announced that scenes would be shot in Morris, Bergen, Essex, Somerset and Monmouth counties from September to November.

Steve Burgers makes it in “Happy Gilmore 2”

Among the local businesses selected for filming is Steve’s Burgers, a popular restaurant on Route 46. The restaurant’s owner shared the news in an Instagram post, confirming his participation in the highly anticipated sequel.

“It is an honor, a privilege, and I’m excited to announce that Steve’s Burgers on Route 46 has been chosen by @adamsandler and @netflix to film a scene for the new and highly anticipated film Happy Gilmore 2, coming soon to Netflix!” Burgers wrote. “We’ll keep you updated on filming dates so you can meet the myth and legend himself! Thank you for your support and remember to always ‘stay where it lies.'”

Travis Kelce has a cameo appearance in “Happy Gilmore 2”

Adam Sandler announced during an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce will join the cast of the sequel to his upcoming film in a cameo role, telling the late-night host, “Travis mentioned it, so we have something nice for Travis.”

“He’ll come over. He’s a very nice guy. You’d love him in real life,” he told his former “SNL” colleague. “What a tall, handsome guy. Funny and damn cool. He’s a stud and so funny.”
