STATEN ISLAND, NY — One person was injured in Richmond on Monday when a tree fell on their car.
According to a New York Police Department spokesman, the incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. near Dylan Way near Clarke Avenue.
The spokesman said the victim’s condition was unknown and he was taken by emergency medical services to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze.
The tree also tore down large sections of the overhead power lines, temporarily leaving nearly 500 Con Edison customers without power.
The outage extended roughly from Richmond, Arthur Kill and Richmond Hill Roads to Clarke Avenue, according to Con Edison’s outage map.
According to information on Con Edison’s website, employees restored power to the area as of 2 p.m.
