Speculation about Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Sam Taylor-Johnson’s marriage is nothing new, but this latest rumor could spell trouble for the couple.

Fans of the Avengers: Age of Ultron Star are usually not very supportive of his relationship with the Fifty shades of grey director due to their 23-year age difference. In the latest Taylor-Johnson feud, social media users are speculating that the couple may have split after Aaron, 34, was spotted without his wedding ring.

In photos taken by The mirrorwhich were also widely shared on social media, the actor was seen in London without anything on his ring finger. Aaron was dressed casually in a grey sweater, dark green trousers and a baseball cap. He was busy making a phone call when he left a dinner alone in West London while paparazzi snapped photos of him.

The casual outing suggests he simply left his wedding ring at home overnight, but that didn’t stop social media users from sharing videos of his engagement online.

“Aaron Taylor-Johnson spotted in London without a wedding ring,” wrote one TikTok user. “The war is over?”

“Aaron Taylor-Johnson was spotted without his wedding ring and literally the whole world cheered,” said another X-user.

For those fans, it may be too early to celebrate, as Aaron wore his wedding ring when he attended the Venice Film Festival for the premiere of Battlefield on August 31. The couple was last seen together at Wimbledon in July.

The actor also defended his relationship with his wife in an interview with Rolling Stone.

“You have to realize that at 13, I was doing what most people were doing in their 20s,” Aaron told the magazine, offering a rare response to discussion of the age gap in his marriage. “You do something too fast for someone else? I don’t understand that. At what pace are you supposed to enjoy life? That’s bizarre to me.”

Aaron and Sam met in 2008 when she directed him as a young John Lennon Nowhere, boy. At the time, Aaron was 17 or 18 years old, Sam was 42. They got engaged in 2009 and had their first daughter, Wylda Rae, in 2010. Their second daughter, Romy Hero, was born in 2012 and they married the same year. Sam also has two older daughters from her first marriage.

Sam also defended the age difference and said The Daily Beast in 2019: “We’ve been together for over a decade now, so I feel like that’s less of a topic of conversation for people.”

“It doesn’t worry me and it’s not something that’s hard to talk about because it’s such a positive story that a decade later we’re together, working together and raising a strong family together. That could be a positive message for people out there.”
